Additional Information:
Ferrules (also known as bootlace ferrules, wire ferrules, or aderendhülsen) are small metal tubes, commonly made from tin plated copper. They come in various sizes to accommodate different wire gauges. They are carefully slipped over stripped wire and then permanently crimped into place. Once the ferrule is crimped, the wire is able to be inserted into a connector. The primary purpose of a ferrule is to prevent wire strands from fraying, breaking, or unraveling. The reduced dimensions of a ferrule allow the user to effectively terminate wires on high density terminal blocks or very narrow areas.
